Default Willow tree eats Corvette

Here's a pic of my 64 coupe that's at my brother inlaw's house. He called me up one day and say's I have some bad news my neighbors tree fell on your car. My heart sunk because I know the tree is massive and had concern when putting the car there. When I walked In the yard it was worse than I thought. The car was not even visable under the tree. I removed all the branchs and burned them before uncovering the car. I was totally amazed when I pulled the cover and there was no damage.
A wheel barrel snapped a 6'' diameter branch right at the door. Check out the pics.

Maybe that was an omen for you to get that car out of there.

Yes that's what I did and just in time the rest of the tree fell right in the same spot but this time the branchs were 2' diameter right where the car was.

Did you mention something about a lucky horseshoe in some location? We garage owners here on the forum can give you many tips on construction. Dennis

A willow tree: It is a wonder it took that long to fall down.

The willow and bradford pear are two of the weakest trees out there.

I have a 36x24 garage that is full of cars already I store this car there because I don't have the room at the moment and it's my worst car. I am planning on getting a storage lift or possible garage expantion. I can't help my self when I find a great deal I have to buy it even thou I have nowhere to put it.

Oh, man, this brings back a memory.

I had parked my '61 to the side and in front of an extended garbage dumpster in a parking lot (this was 28-29 years ago) where I could keep an eye on it at a job site I was working at.

This wasn't a roll on/roll off dumpster, it was one of those metal ones that got lifted up over the back of the garbage truck and dumped into it, but it was extra long, like 12 feet long by 8 feet wide and about 4 feet high with a sloped front, so it got hoisted to 90 degrees and then eveything slid out into the truck.

Anyway, since these were so long, it was lifted by a trunnion lifter at front and cables connected to an overhead arm, that attached to both side of the dumpster at the back (kind of hard to explain).

The dork kids (not union people at all, these looked like high school dropouts) running the garbage truck didn't attach the front hoist properly to the trunnions , and when the dumpster got to 90 degree vertical, it started falling forward over the truck, and off to one side.

The side my Corvette was parked along.

I heard some sort of loud noise and one of my coworked shouted, Hey, look at your car!

i looked over and this damp dumpster was hanging off the side of the garbage truck directly over my Corvette! about 3 feet above the windshield,a nd held there by one of the cables attached to the rear of teh dumpster and one of teh front trunnions, and it was flat up against the side of the garbage truck. This dumpster had to weight 1000 pounds or better.

I ran down there and these kids running the truck were laughing about it, of all things.

I got them to help me push my car far enuf back that i could get in the car so if the dumpster fell the rest of the way, it wouldn't fall on me, and drove it the rest of the way from out under the dumpster.

They had to bring a crane in to get the dumpster off the truck.

I still get ******* thinging about that.
