Hoping for some help. I have a 63 roadster, very unoriginal that I am in the middle of replacing the entire 40+year old suspension. I am putting in off set T-arms and disc brakes all around. My question is about the 63 drum brake e-brake cables. Can the same cables be used to hook up to the e-brake mechanism in the disc brake T-arms or do I have to get new cables. I know that 65 and up E-brake systems were different than my 63, but is there a way to convert them to work? I figure someone with a 63 has converted to discs and kept the e-brake...
Any help is appreciated.
I own a 66, and with the mods you are making, IMO plan on custom cables or brackets if you want a good ebrake.
Mine works, but it took a few mods to a stock system. The ebrake lever between the front and rear cables was eventually changed by Chevrolet to provide more leverage:http://www.micro-controls.com/article-030-00164.html
My car had modified trailing arms for 11 inch wide tires when I bought it. Moving the ebrake brackets rendered the brake useless, so I replaced the trailing arms and installed new cables and brake parts. Eventually I replaced all the ebrake parts (cable included) with stainless.
