I would really like to trade it for a C6 ZO6 and well lets say a chunk of cash. If you know anyone that might be interested my e-mail is ronjjohnson@sbcglobal.net
Very nice job! I'm doing my 65 Coupe similar - LS2, tremec 5 speed, Streetshops chassis with 95 suspension and brakes, coil overs on all 4 corners and Dana 44 . Trying to leave the body and interior stock looking. Interested in what size wheels and tire your using. I have 17 x 8.5 C6 style wheels with Goodyear F1's 245 - 45 x 17 for tires. Same on all four corners so I can move them front to back. Your wheels look similar, mine are chrome, see avatar. How does it drive ?
I have a 65 outfitted as yours is. 245 tires are about the largest tire that will go in the wheelwells. I could have squeezed 265's in, but boy would it have been tight! I used 17 X 8.5 wheels as well and trimmed 1.25" off each side of the 96 rear suspension. This puts the outside of the tire about 1/8" away from the quarter lip at rest. Luckily, the tire moves away from the lip under compression of the suspension. If you are using rear suspension that is pre-ABS, the 1.25" shortening is not correct. the pre-ABS cars were narrower in the track width.
I wanted to keep the stock lines as well, and did not want to install wider quarters. That being said, If I was doing a coupe, I would move the inside of the wheelwells in so I could get a 315 tire in the rear. It was not an option with my convertible, as it would interfere with the folding top stowage. My 59 is just plain scary under acceleration with a LS1 and 245's, and my 65 will have almost 75 more horsepower with the LS2, and no more tire!
IF i had the bucks that is what i would do with my 67 --that said i'll have to "suffer" along with the 427 rebuilt stock suspencion and interior--oh well-- glenn
