Default Rear Squeeking

While driving my '65, I noticed some squeeking coming from the rear tire. I parked the car and pushed down on the rear bumper and found the squeeking to be coming from near the rear wheels. Sounded similar to dry rubber or a mouse, however no mouse was found. Any idea where it is coming from? I tried spraying some wd-40 on some rear rubber parts but no luck. Any idea's? Thanks

get sidepipes

could be, in no peticular order

spring liners
spring cushions
shock mounts
shocks
trailing arm bushings
strut rod bushings

those are most of the rubber moving parts........

other culprits could be half shafts and rear bearings..

If the car is a BBC, then it's a rat, so you'll not find a mouse.
You're on the right track, so keep checking all rubber grommets, etc in rear suspension. WD40 will only last a short time, then the squeak will return.

Sounds like it might be coming from the trailing arm bushing forward of the wheel. How do I get to it to look at it?

trailing arm bushings are a big job.... search the forum there are plenty of discussions about them...

you cannot isolate the trailing arm bushing, so just spray liberal amounts of lube into the frame cavity and see if it gets better

Look inside the wheel well, just forward of the rear wheel. Look for a nut, and spray inside the frame cavity there. The nut and bolt hold the control arm rubber bushings.
