Wiper Quick Fix (BUBBA?)

ALL new wiring
Clean engine bay
Dynamat
Radio Upgrade
A/C
????
All needed to be done was installing:
Heater hoses
A/C high pressure hoses
Seats
At this point I now have everything electrical working (I mean everything)
Except
One other thing was I needed to install NEW wiper switch as BUBBA had install incorrect switch and spliced wiring into said switch. NOTE ** Wipers work prior to starting all this work (slow but worked) **
Got new switch yesterday and installed and plug connecters in. Turn on key and switch on wipers. &%$# Nothing &^%$ So I start tracking down. Make sure plugs on motor are on correct & tight. Ground wire is ok but run temp jumper just to be sure. &%$# Nothing &^%$ At this point I assume switch but decide to check out motor. Dig original wiring harness out (with Many Many splices) and cut off the wiper motor plug. The one with three wires (blue, brown, yellow) and plug it into motor and jump (Positive to Brown, Neg to Blue) and &%$# Nothing &^%$ just a every so slight click. How can this be they work before I replace all the wires?
Now I'm depressed as I just got all the wiring done and install A/C duct work out the kazoo. To get the motor out I have to REMOVE all I just installed. I gave up last night and cleaned up and watched TV.

This morning in a better frame-of-mind I decide to tackle the removing of the A/C, clock, etc. Got cup of coffee was disconnecting wires under the hood from last night when I had a quick though.
(Rare for me but a thought)
Why not pull the WASHER off the WIPER and take a look. It's only 4 screws. So I did just that. It looked like 40+ year old crap inside so I got out my Electric Contact Spray and SOAKED it good and all that CRAP ran out. What the heck hook the wires back up and give it a shot. PRESTO. The motor starts slowly but the picks up speed and appears to be working just fine. I apply some lithium grease on the gearing where I can and quickly close up, hook up stock wiring and turn on key and flip the switch and I NOW HAVE WIPERS AGAIN
I know this is long but I'm so happy I don't have to tear all that stuff out today.
I know this is not the proper fix but it is a fix (BUBBA ???) and I only will need wipers in an emergency. Perhaps next years I pull motor and get rebuilt but not likely until they won't work at all.

If you decide to try then:
Disconnect battery
Remove shielding
Remove distributor cap
Disconnect wiring (3 plugs)
Remove 4 1/4 inch screws (be careful lower left has ground tab)
Spray the heck out of insides with electric contact cleaner
PRAY
Reverse above and give it a try.
George
