Default Missing Fuel Filter Stud on Intake Manifold

This concerns my 1965 327/300 intake manifold. I think I have the corerect manifold; 384459. I have seen some pictures of what appears to be a small stud just to the right of the water pump that holds the bracket for the fuel filter. I don't seem to have one. How else can you attach the bracket so I can have the correct fuel filter? Also shouldn't my Carter AFB 3721 have an internal bronze filter inside the inlet? Thanks- Rob

I don't know about the '65 300 hp but, my '66 300 hp did not come with an inline fuel filter except for the bronze filter in my Holley carb.

The bracket with stud (plain steel) for the 63-65 300hp AFB's is available from Corvette Central part # 352225. The stud alone(with nut & star washer) is #352228 and the complete setup(gas lines, bracket, stud and black filter) is #352308.
No bronze filter is used.

The stud is used in place of an intake bolt.

No internal fuel filter on the Carter AFB. No internal fuel filter used on the holley 2818 (350 and 365 HP).

My 64 300hp, with the Carter AFB carburetor, has 63,000 miles, mostly original, does not have the internal bronze filter. The 250hp with the Carter WCFB does have the bronze filter ( and does not have the external filter). From page 6M-2 of ST21, maintenance and adjustments to the AFB carburetor. "The fuel filter is nonserviceable element type in the fuel pump-to-air meter fuel line mounted at right front corner of engine manifold (fig. 2). Replacement consist of disconnecting fuel lines and replacing the cannister with flow arrow in direction of fuel flow"

From page 6M-14 of ST21, maintenance and adjustments to the WCFB carburetor.
"inlet fuel filter
removal and replace
1. remove fuel line connection at inlet fuel filter nut.
2. remove inlet fuel filter nut from carburetor inlet fuel filter with a 1" box or socket wrench.
3. remove filter and spring.
4. clean element by washing in solvent and blowing out with compressed air
NOTE: element should be replaced every 12,000 miles or before if flooding occurs.
5. reverse the procedure for replacement.
NOTE: for proper installation of fuel element, small section of cone shoild face inlet fuel filter nut."
