I will be freshening up the engine compartment in the next few weeks and have an inquiry regarding the blackout process.
Was the body on the chassis at this point?
Would the area to the rear of the fenderwell - before the
firewall have evidence of paint? - specifically the
backside of the "gills".
Any other information about this process would be appreciated.
The blackout operation was performed in the Paint Shop, just prior to the final bake oven, long before the body ever saw the chassis; it was just the body shell on a conveyor skid. The inside of the gill area behind the inner fender got very little blackout - they stuck a piece of cardboard down there to keep the black paint from showing from the outside.
