Any one ever buy the after market valve covers threw Corvette central or one of the other vendors? Good quality? Pics? I'm trying to decide if buying a used set and sand blasting them is better than the repos.

I needed one due to the previous owner pulling a buba. Posted a WTB on the forum and found one that way. That might be worth a try, I can't believe a die cast mold that had severe heat checking on the plug and a crack on the female portion is still around.
I bought a chrome set of valve covers from Paragon and didn't care for them. I felt the prep work around the script area, prior to chroming was lacking in detail. I sent them back. I then bought a cheap ugly set of used ones on ebay and bead blasted them, cleaned up all the edges and then sent them off for high temp shiny finish and all is well.

They are from the same mold that made them 40 years ago,a nd that is obvious.
They are not reproduction covers, they are modern production.
Comparing my 40 year old casting flaw covers to the new ones, the mold is really showing its age, lots of new boogers and pimples on the new covers from mold erosion that are not on the old covers.
But, a block sander with 120 grit to remove the boogers and a trip to the polishers and $30 per cover later, they look fantastic with their mirror shine.

$30 per cover is a very very good price. Will they do more for that amount and if so, can you PM their address and phone number.
What do you mean by Hi temp shiny finish? Paint? What I used on my valve covers was CermaKrome high temp header coating done by Cap's Brite hot coatings in Fresno, Cal. I've used them for coating many different parts and have been real happy with the results. Regards, Marv
