I Am Painting My Leaf Spring And I Need To Know If The Bushing Retainer Should Be Removed. It Is Crimped In The Longest Spring, Should It Be A Natural Finish ?

Not sure about 63, but a 66 is held by a spring support on the differential cover using 4 large bolts. Quanta sells a kit that includes paint and center spring bolt. Disassembly is straight forward, just be careful removing and re-installing the spring connector bolts and don't tighten the spring support bolts on the differential cover until the spring is supporting the weight of the car.

The round bushing retainers at the outboard ends of the main leaf were installed and peened in place at St. Louis, and should be "natural" (according to the current JG). If you want the points, do it that way. The entire rear suspension was painted black before it was installed on the frame, but the JG doesn't reflect that (yet).

Thankyou For The Reply. I Got The Bushing Retainers Out And Got My Leaf Spring Painted. I Will Install The New Retainers When I Assemble The Rear End.
