Drove to Thunderhill Raceway in Willows to watch the new Corvettes test their skill on the track , and parked next to these OLD Corvettes things in my C6 vett . Great weather and good people. That blue thing must be worth at least 10K- what do you think?
I really enjoyed meeting you and your son at Thunderhill. Late in the day I heard that more than 100 Corvettes signed up for track time. I sure felt silly there with my 59 Powerglide car with skinny tires.
I scored a ride in the Grand Sport after you left. Incredible experience. That car sure is fast.
There were not any C1's on the track. Other than the GS, I only saw 1 C2 and 1 C3 on the track. I must say that the C6 Z06's were extraordinary on the track.
Nice seeing you too, my son wonted to take the Vert out, it would be fun to take the 55 out but I'm not adding a roll bar to do it. Take care see you later.
Don't ever feel outclassed at an event like this. It is pure fun and a real learning experience running your old car on a race track. At the very least you learn how your car handles at higher speeds and in tight corners. I did it last April at the Pocono Raceway High Speed Driving School for Corvettes. It was about as much fun you can have with your clothes on.

Yep, that's my trusty ride. My bride, Diane, and I were there with just #80. In the photo of us on track, that's her playing the role of passenger since her D&D Grand Sport wasn't in track-ready condition.
If you look closely, it appears I'm looking at Russ when he made the picture. Not quite. I'm checking my mirror for those pesky C6 Z06s. Lordy, they are fast.
Don't just spectate. The best seat in the house is the driver's seat. Y'all bring um out and run um, ya hear.
You are absolutely correct. Being on track is an absolute blast. It's a great way to experience your Corvette the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
I realize there are those who would be afraid of driving their Corvettes on a track. Don't be. There is a run group for everyone from complete novices to seasoned drivers and novices get the benefit of expert instruction. You drive the speed that's comfortable for *you*; there is no pressure from anyone to drive at stupidly fast speeds.
This event was the first all-Corvette open track event that I'd heard of in northern California. It was big. Word on the street was that, because of the huge turnout, the organizers were considering doing it again. If so, it sure would be fun to see more older Corvettes on track next time.
