I am trying to figure out if the upper dash on say 56-57 C1's had a gloss finish or satin finish. I've seen both in photographs. It would make sense to have a satin finish to reduce glare, but maybe these examples were repainted. Thanks.
The portion of the upper dash between the windshield and the vinyl dash roll on '56-'57 cars was painted with a flattening agent in the paint so it didn't reflect in the windshield; few restored cars are correct in that area.

I agree with John, flat is CORRECT.
The top of my 56 is gloss, that's how I like it. Strangely enough, glare (from the top of the dash) has NEVER been a problem for me. The problem I have is the sun coming through just under the windshield header and not having sunvisors!
