Isn't there something wrong with that VIN? 1148 with only 300 1953's made? could it be 100148? If it's truly a '53 then I would think it could be a real deal if it isn't priced too high.
Isn't area code 318 Louisiana? Is this car a hurricane Katrina victim?
The guy listed in the ad, Jerry Brister, has been dealing in old cars for over 30 years. He hosted an annual corvette show in his home town of Bastrop until the late 80's. He now lives in the Monroe area and that area of North LA was not affected by the storms. He has a fairly good reputation in that area. I thought he had been out of vettes since the early 90's but I guess he still has an interest. He has owned a lot of vettes and he does know his cars.

The first vette, as told to me, was E53F1001, therefore this is number 148
You my friend. Are correct. Deal or No Deal Not a bad investment if the purchase price is feasable and the important parts are there, especially considering the rarity of a 53. It would be worth thinking over. Good luck in your decision.
If it is indeed 98% complete and the asking price is not too high it would be worth it. But, consider the cost to restore and compare to other '53 selling prices. If you plan on keeping the car, then how much are you willing to put into it?
My '55 was worse than this when I got it, missing more than 98% of it's original parts.
Thanks guys, I am thinking that it may be ok, except that when I called and found that he wants $150,000- for the thing it kind of dampens my enthusiasm .. I think it would be another $50K at least to put that car right...
