Looking for some input on my project.
I have installed a 350 turbo tranny in my 4-speed '67 327-350hp coupe. It was tricky (at best!) to get the tranny in with the non-removable crossmember, but it's all mounted.
Ran into trouble on the last step...the shifter. I used the tranny out of my 80 L-82 and intended to use the shifter as well. The shifter from the 80 just won't do without major mods.
Is there a shifter out there that will work, look pretty much stock and bolt in the same place as the original 4-speed shifter?
I can make this work with a lot of effort, but looking for easier options.
Any help is appreciated.
Them's the guys you need, but you will just need to find an original C2 powerglide shifter. Shiftworks only sells conversion kits to make Powerglide shifters work on later model trans. I used one of their kits to modify an original shifter on my 65 which is using a 4L65E trans. The C2 shifter mounts to the boot ring, and trying to adapt another shifter is more work than it is worth. The stock Powerglide shifter sure keeps up the "stealth" look.
