I had a local upholstery guy install my new al knoch top on my 1960. It turned out great. Make sure that you clean up and repaint your frame before the new top is installed.
Can't help you, but by coincidence, I dropped my top off this morning for the same thing. I am west of Charlotte, NC. The guy is going to disassemble, sandblast frame, powder coat, and re-do the tack strips. He will install my AK top, new weatherstripping, new hardware, etc. and put it on my car (not on the car now, but I have to take him the car when ready for installation). $400-$500 and I am supplying all materials above. Didn't know but thought that was reasonable. Not done any work here before but a local reputable shop.

It cost me $2000 for all parts and labor, which I thought was kinda high.
Bought my top from Corvette Central. Had it for a while, don't remember what I paid. Weatherstrip and hardware is going to be a couple hundred, so I will probably have $1000 in it. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.
Thanks for the info- but what i need is someone to help me have the top put on. I appreciate the suggestions, but if I don't find someone to put it on then the suggestions will be of no use. Somebody know someone??

I gave you a suggestion. Check out the local upholstery guys and get them to give you some names of customers that they have installed tops for. You should be able to find one that does acceptable work that way. Price is another issue that you will have to investigate. I hope you weren't planning to just take your car to the person that someone suggested here without doing any kind of investigation on them.
Part of the investigation was asking forum members who know alot about this for suggestions. The problem is we don't seem to be able to find any local upholstry shops to help us out.
Get the video from Corvette Central, or Al Knoch. It isn't as hard as it appears to do. I've done three already. But redo your frame first make sure all your tack strips are good, and then do it.If you don't feel comfortable send me an a reply. You can bring the car done to me and I'll help you. Tom
