Default I Need Help - Wheels

Ok.. I need to order my wheels.. I am going with the AR Torq Thrust II.. I know everyone has em but they look damn good.. I am ordering them in chrome but here is my problem. The car came with 15 inch wheels, I would like to go with 17's but I need to figure out the tire size and I am thoroughly confused.. Here are the original tire sizes and the car does have the front and rear fender flares..

295/50/15
235/60R/15

I think if I am redoing the whole car it would look better with 17s instead of 15's.. What do you think and thanks for the needed help..

Okay ,
I have a 61 and have the Torque Thrust 2 Polished Alloys
My wheel size is 235/45R/17 all-round ..this is what it looks like .http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...Twwedee001.jpg
No modifications needed . Drives perfect ! By the way . I searched the whole country for the cheapest price for these new TT2's . I found a place in Kansas City . By far the cheapest ...Pm me if you want the name and phone number . $ 700...That was a couple of years ago . Owner said he wouldn't be beat in price if you could find them cheaper.

Thanks for the heads up, very nice pic.. I would be very interested in the contact info.. For the fronts that would work what I am concerned with is getting as much meat on the rear as I can.. I am going with a 7inch depth wheel in the front and a 10inch depth in the rear.. What do you think tire size for rear would be?

10s on the rear, u must have a serious flare on the rear to cover those.
just fitted a set of 17 x7 allround tts to a buddys 61, were running 4.5 bs and they just miss the leaf spring and just sit inside the wheel arch with 235-35-17 tires

If you go to any of the wheel/tire vendors on line it will tell you the heighth and cross section of your tires then cross reference them to the 17" that you want.

I sent you a PM about some more details on your wheels. I really like the set up.
Thanks.

WOW that's some serious meats under that car. Please post some pics so we can see what you are working with. If you have flares you may want to try and find a 50 series tire or even 55 to help fill the wheel wells. You may want to buy your setup locally so that you can change the tire sizes until you find something that is just right for your setup. If it were a stock vette I'd say 225/50/17's and you'd be good to go. However with the amount of tire you have it's going to take some trial and error..

BTW 17" TTII's are sharp...

What you might want to do is look at the Tire Width you may be able to fit in wheelwell.

I believe TTII 17" x 8", 4.75 bolt circle, 5.5" back spacing fits stock suspension. Could be wrong.

Question now is what width Tire mounted on wheels will fit inside wheel well. You may be able to use the below tire link to see how cross section of tire changes with size dependent on rim width.

http://www.kumhousa.com/tires/passen.../KU31/specs.do

If your rim width is 8.0" the following 17" tires will work on rim, but question is will the tire fit inside wheelwell. Section Width on Meas. Rim varies from around 9.2" to 10.4" mounted on 8.0" wide rim. If a 255/50R17 will fit you get about 1.0" more meat on ground. Don't count on that happening, but you might get lucky.

235/40R17
235/45R17
245/40R17
245/45R17
255/45R17
255/50R17

This one takes a min 8.5" wide rim.
255/40R17
