tach cable question

tach cable question
I have a 64 327/300 hp...does anyone know if the tach cable end going into the distrbutor has a rubber washer or something .. I hand tighten it in and the cable still wobbles... ..can't tighten anymore

The flared end of the cable housing should seat tightly against the distributor housing without any washers of any kind. The knurled nut should tighten down far enough to hold it in place. If yours is wobbling, the knurled nut isn't going on far enough. Check for cobbled up threads on the nut or the tach drive housing on the distributor. It should go on fairly easily. However, it is easy to crossthread it.
