What numbers determine the engine and H.P. the vehicle came with from the factory?

The VIN is: 194675S103469

You need to look at the assembly stamping on the engine block. For a small block, the engine assembly date and suffix identification code is stamped on a pad at the front of the right side cylinder head. The code appears on the inboard side of the pad, close to the water pump. The code format is FMMDDXX where "F" represents the Flint engine plant, MM represents the month, DD is the day, and the XX is the engine type identification suffix code.

For a big block, the engine assembly date and sufficx identification code is located on hte outboard side of the engine pad. The code format is TMMDDXX where "T" is for Towanda assembly plant and the other codes are the same as above.

Black Book.

About ten dollars.

Not rocket science.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

When did they just use the designation of M-M for Milano Maroon? I thought they were all number codes. I guess I am learning more every day.

Thanks for the straight answer, this is my first Vette. I guess some guys have been messing with them for so long they forgot what's its like to have to ask questions to learn.

Thanks again for the info!

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Tell me what this one says: T2110IL Then this one: T1II7IL

I am having a hard time figuring out the 21 in the first number. If that is the month, how does it decipher???

Steve

T = Tonawanda
21 = who knows, it is a miss stamp (or a poorly done restamp)
10 = the 10th day of the month
IL = 390hp 427 with 4-speed

Got a pic?

T = Tonawanda
1I = November
I7 = the 17th day
IL = 390hp 427 with 4-speed

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

The second number is from my car so I know what that was supposed to be. My calculator on my car came up Dec 5, 65 (or thereabouts) for an assembly date. The other unit is 144 units prior to my car and the calculator projected the build date as Sep 12, 65. No problem there except the 1 & 2 got turned around some how. If I was going to guess it would be a poorly done restamp. The pad was shiny like it had been decked. The serial number stamp on the pad is located much higher on the right side of the pad than I have seen on all other big blocks and is punched like it was free hand rather than in a gang. Oh well, I was just trying to figure out the 21 in the engine build date. Thanks. I did copy the photo of this pad but I can't find it in my computer. Not real smart when it comes to PC's (or Mac's).
