Default Dash cluster capacitor

On my 66 bb there is a capacitor at the bottom of the dash near the steering column with a clip that isn't attached to anything, i can't figure out where it should go. I also found that my lighter lite is just hanging but i can't get my hand in to attach, does the cluster need to come out to attach ?

Thanks, Gary

Can you post a picture of the capacitor? There are several in the dash area: Two of them look like a condensor that goes under the distributor cap, and has a metal band around it with a small hole. Those attach to the back of the cluster using some of the small screws holding the gauge pods in place

The cig. lighter light has a metal hood around it that snaps into the side of the cib. lighter housing. You may be able to hook it up without removing the cluster, but it would be easier if you pull the cluster forward towards the steering wheel a bit. That part isn't too bad of a job, just remove the 2 screws holding the steering column collar to the cluster, loosen the steering column mount bolts under the cluster, and remove the 5 or 6 big screws holding the cluster to the dash (replace 2 screws with 1/4 x 20 studs). Then you can slide the whole thing forward as far as the oil line will let you.

There are 3 capacitors on the back of the gauge cluster.
Capacitor #4 connects to one of the ammeter terminals.
Capacitor #5 connects to the brown wire coming from the harness.
Capacitor #6 connects to the tan wire going to the parking brake warning light. There is a small plastic connector with a push pin to make the connection.

The cigaret lighter light clips on to the side of the lighter housing. You will see two tabs on the lights shield. They fit into two slots on the lighter housing. I think that with a mirror you could see where it goes and clip it in without removing the cluster.
