Ive got a 61 w/ a 327 and 4 spd. Just rebuilt the motor (nonstock cam) and am having a few problems.
1. what should I set the initial timing to?
2. what about "total" timing?
3. Ive got solid lifters- I keep checking them and the lash is TIGHTER than when I originally set it. any ideas?

i would suggest 10 degree intial advance, 32-24 total adavnce, depending on compression ratio, maybe 36 total if you have 9;1 pistons.
Do you do a valve job? Valves seating in woudl tighten up the lash.
