Steering Damper

Any downside to running without the steering damper (66 small block)?

(I do know that the 5 quart pan prevented it being used on earlier FI and 'special high performance" models.)

None that I know of. I've run my '66 both with and without, and didn't notice any real difference.

Should not be a problem since so many 365hp and FI cars did not have them. But I think you meant the 6 quart oil pan prevented use of a damper.

I did mean 6 quart.. (5 in the pan, 1 in the filter?).

I have been running mine without the damper for a few months. I just wondered if there was something I'd missed, or if there might be some long term effect?
