Default Engine casting dates

Can someone settle an arguement? Did the engine foundry ever produce mid year engine blocks on weekends which would show on the casting date?

Yes, they did. Foundry operations are continuous in nature (the melt furnaces are never shut down except to re-line them); Saturday operations were common at Saginaw Foundry, and they occasionally poured on Sundays if the supply line to Flint Engine was lean enough to require it.
