How much paint do I need to paint my 1962 Corvette? I am going to use Dupont Chromabase Basecoat which mixes 1-1. I am painting inside trunk area , gas tank cover both sides, conv. top area, glove box and hardtop, plus both sides of trunk lid. Door jams and the complete car. 3 coats of basecoat ( roman red ), on everything. except the back side of hood which I painted semi-gloss black.
If your going to use DuPont, look into the 'chromapremier' line of base colors. Its a bit pricier due to the fact that it has more color in it and less binders and balancers. What ever line you decide to use, utilize the value shade sealers if they still have it. On a red color, it was value shade 2 or 3 and reds hid really, really good and fast.

Make sure you use the value shade on the whole job. If you don't you will see thru the paint. I am a Dupont shop and use they products every day.
I just did my 59..... get 1.5 gals total mixed... You will be glad you did. Especially if you are doing inside the trunk, jambs, etc.... ((I did the same)
I used Snowcrest white as the body color... used 2 quarts Roman Red for the console, gauge cluster, coves and roof...
I had a little of each left over, but easier than going and geting a new batch made.
1.5 gals clear..... but I used PPG clear.. went with Chroma base since I wanted the exact color match....
