Default Starter question-which one??

My mini starter is junk-it whines like crazy while cranking and then continues to whine afterwards for a second. Anyway, you get what you pay for i guess and this 59.00 ebay special is just that.
So, what replacement starter should i buy?? I have an 11" flywheel.
didnt some smallblock 66 vettes come with the 11" flywheel??

I just went with the Summit Mini Starter (made overseas no doubt) for my 66 BB, I can't recall who here recommended it, but it must have been someone I thought knew what they were talking about, lol.

It's been just fine, I use the lightest Autozone battery (that fits the tray, all I did was paint it all black, and add a disconect switch).... no problem'o, but then again, mine's not really a daily driver.... he just comes out for street fights, and other HD activities

I just had my Date Coded Starter rebuilt by the local Auto Electric shop. Guy is a buddy, but you can duplicate what he did. Put ALL new stuff in my Starter. It starts my car just fine and is quiet as a Mouse. (327/350). The GM Starters worked just fine when these cars were new. Al W.

Just went to Westwood Auto, O'reilleys, Autozone, Advance auto parts, and Napa and none of them stock the starter. I'm amazed! Two years ago you could walk into any of those stores and walk out 5 minutes later with the replacement starter for a small block chevy. I guess i will turn to the internet.

Is there a specific part number difference from the 11" flywheel starter and the 10.5" flywheel starter that i should look for. Also, do i want one with an aluminum nose or cast iron??

I'd use the original, or the replacement i have in the garage, but i switched to an 11" flywheel and bellhousing.(long story)

Mid to late 90"s Chevy S10 4.3 starter works with the large flywheel. It's small like your mini starter and you can get one at any parts store. You will need the proper bolts though.
