Default 62 Grill question

I know that this sounds silly but I'll ask anyway. We are installing a new grill on my 62. The entire front end has been replaced and is now about done. The grill has a bowed design. Does the bowed edge face out or inward? Seems to look right facing out toward the opening but doesn't fit quite right on the inside mounting. We are in the final stages! Thanks for the help folks, the car looks factastic to me.

Mine isn't here to check, but IIRC it bows out. Do you have the mounting standoffs for each stud? That could make the difference.

Good luck and post some pis when you're done!

Thanks much Paul. That will make a difference. I don't think the mounting standoffs are there. That will surely make a difference.
Thanks, I'll try to post pictures when complete. Should be by the weekend or early next week. This has truly been an interesting process and has taken much longer than first thought. However, the outcome looks wonderful.

They are about 3/4" inch long if I remember, check this link for Corvette Central to see what they look like.
Good luck,

Paul

there is a bushing/sleeve that goes on each of the long studs that hold the upper and lower grill moldings in place that space the grille back from the opening. if you don't use these spacers, the front of the grill will rub the bumper. you can see the spacer in the area i've circled. i got mine at ACE Hardware and they are made of plastic or nylon and will not rust like the metal ones that were originally used. cost less than a $1 apiece...

Thanks Bill,
I can take care of this easily today. That solves the question, the grill was (is) rubbing against the bumper.
