My current '65 conv. is my second midyear. The other was a '66 conv. One of my friends always shows up at the cruise-in's with his '62 driver. It looks cool with the American racing mags, non-glossy paint, etc...Guess what I'm trying to say is I think I'm bored with my '65. There's plenty of things that I could do with it. I just can't get motivated to do them. It is a NOM, so I could swap that out. The paint looks pretty good, but it has a few chips here and there. I could paint it myself. I just have no get up and go to do it. The engine compartment could be spruced up.
I see newer model ZO6's modded out and think one of those would be fun. I see other old cars and think they would be fun. Maybe I'm just burnt out on midyear's ? Is there a big driving difference between a solid axle and a midyear ?
Anyone else get this way ? I go to a cruise-in almost every Sat. night within 70 miles of me. So, I do get it out and drive it.

First off, yes, there is a difference between C2s and C1s. C1 ride is stiffer (and the seats poorer), no AC or PS or PB available with a C1. Those items can be added, and that may be part of the "fun", but cost/results is also a factor. Earlier C1's had even less room, and the C1 was never for a large person! Even more leaks (if comparing against a C2 Vert)! But a "real" trunk, and frankly no IRS are pluses!
You can have fun or grief from any vehicle, just depends on attitude and desire.

I know what you're saying about getting bored with your Vette so you have to make a concerted effort to make a few changes.
I've owned my 65 for 16 years. Drove it for a few years making mechanical and cosmetic improvements, the frame of resto was completed in 99, got a little bored with it as time passed so bought a C5 in 2003, started getting a little bored with the 65 last fall and decided to stick a BB hood on it and touch up those battle scars on the front end this Spring. This damn boredom it costing $$$$.
Really happy about the way it turned out.
From: One thing is for sure this kind of discourse and BS would not be tolerated on the NCRS forum. Ohio

I go through that all the time. If you like the modded Z06's and you like your 65 I think the answer is clear.
Keep the '65 add a Tube frame, C4/5 suspension, LS7 and a 6spd. If that doesn't unbore you nothing will and I suggest you seek professional help.
Looks like a nice car you have there! I got tired of my C5, so I bought a C6..so I know what you mean. Maybe it's time for a coupe? BB car? 383 stroker? If you sell your stingray for a late model, someday I think you will regret it. I may not keep my 65 Coupe for ever, but I will always have a C2......(maybe BB car next..someday.)

I'll give you some advice here. My 67' Coupe is my 2nd C-2. I sold my first 67' Vert back in 1971. Kicked myself ever since for selling it. I owned (3) C-3's over the years since 71' when I sold my C-2. Although the C-2 and C-3 are basically the same car sitting on the same frame but with different bodies they are not the same when sitting inside each one and driving them. For close to 31 years I had dreams of driving my old 67' again it was just such a different experience that finally I replaced that 67' Vert with my current 67' Coupe back in 2002. I still have one of my C-3's my 73' Coupe since 1982 but each car in my mind is different and I finally got to really see this over the years owning both to compare. I say if you sell your C-2 you will regret it down the road at some point.
Hey I would also like to own a C-1. I like the way they look but right now I just have too many vehicles and I am happy with what I have. You can't own them all. Maybe you need another toy to play with. Maybe add a C-1 to your collection but keep the 65'. Just my opinion.

I have sold several vehicles that I was "sorry" I sold. But like being in the military, you remember the good, and (try to) forget the bad. There were valid reasons (to me) that I sold them, and moved on. Can't say any of them were "because I was bored", but a reason is a reason.
Let someone else enjoy your Vette, and find something else that sparks your interest. Life is too short to sit on the couch and watch the world go by. Or sit on the computer typing! Time to get out to the workshop.
This is an interesting thread. My 66 has been in storage for about 5 years. I had no interest whatsoever in the thing. I finally concluded that at this point in my "maturation Process" I wanted more creature comforts and less of the nostalgia of the old car as it was built 40 years ago. Right now it is in a friends garage over 100 miles from where I live, it has been there for a year at least.
I only recently have regained some interest in the car. Currently making plans to correct some of the issues that made the car less than fun to drive for me.
I plan to insulate the floor and add A/C along with the A/C I will include the biggest baddest radiator I can find to preclude any issues with overheating. I can't keep one eye on the road and another on the temp guage ...that was never a part of the fun for me. I am also going to fix an annoying crunch in the transmission. In addition a camshaft swap is in the plan...LESS cam not more cam. Last but not least a rebuild of the rear control arms is in the cards. I hope that the car becomes fun to drive after this is all done. Right now without the A/C / Insulation it is just impossible to drive in the hot weather.

I think age is a factor. Most of my "Gear Head" buddies are 55+ years young. And, we all take our time getting things done. Remember the story about the Old Bull and the Young Bull. Al W.
You are not alone. My car is ~98% there. Just door pulls to do. But for some reason I have no desire to fix those door pulls or drive. Just 100 miles this spring. It may be a 55+ thing, I do not know. But I cannot bring myself to sell this car. I don't have a barn so it might be a "garage find" in the coming years.
BTW, yes that's bc/cc with Zaino Z2. Not NCRS but it does look good.
I cleaned it up and went to the cruise-in tonight. I didn't have a for sale sign on it and haven't mentioned it to anyone...but ya'll. A guy walked up and made me a serious offer on it. All my usual car show buddies know the
guy and says he is serious and does have the money. I said no...and it was a VERY nice offer for a NOM car. I may kick myself later....and like others have said - maybe not
I met sedowny that visits with us here from time to time. He has several nice cars and his wife has a super nice '69 Camaro

No offense, really but why not just leave the C2 the way it is (rather than try to make it something it isn't) and buy a C5? They're fantastic cars, and relatively inexpensive........ I don't know what your C2 is like, but if it's decent, I'd bet you could get a C5, and all the stuff needed to make the transition, car cover, etc etc........ and have a bunch of $$ left. I bought a C5 coupe a couple years ago, for ~21K$, with ~20K miles on it (blk/blk/Z-51/NM6).... Comfortable, fast, good mileage, fairly quick. Ever drive a C5? If not, try it, you just may take one home with you.
This thread really hit home for me. I have finally sold my 63 Vert. This car and I just never got along. I bought a 2003 C5 three weeks ago and love it !!!
Everybody wins, the 63 is getting a good home and I am in love with my new Vert. See you all down the the road and I will

Good. I think you made the right choice. Just contemplating it so hard indicates deep down you like & "need" the car.
Sorry for the late comment. Had to find out how this ended.

Timbrr,
Glad to hear that you got a C5 that you love. My son graduated from Wartburg a couple of weeks ago so I may never get back down to that area to meet up with you so CONGRATS on the new purchase.
Grey Ghost,
Glad to hear that you have kept your C2. If you can swing it, I would suggest that you add a car to your stable that brings some excitement to your soul. I can't imagine giving up any of my cars. Having 5 corvettes (C1 thru C5) and a DeLorean means that I can pick the car that suits my mood. Maybe after owning any of them for 16 years I will get bored with one....but I doubt it. Good luck to you.
