Default Brake Indicator Light

My parking brakes work fine (65, 327/365) but when I put them on, the indicator light on my dash would flash once briefly but would not continue to flash. Is there an adjustment that I can make so that the dash indicator light flashes periodically?

In a '65 the flashing is due to a special indicator bulb with a built in flasher (thermal switch). I think a new bulb would fix your problem. I don't have the part number handy, but it should be in the back of your owners manual. Years ago I bought mine at my friendly neighborhood NAPA store. It's probably harder to find today at the big parts chains.

Would I need to pull the instrument cluster to change the bulb?

I don't think so, but you may want to remove the driver's seat so you don't have to be as much of a gymnast.

If your car has factory A/C, you'll need to remove the left side A/C duct, which can't come out unles you disconnect the bracket for the hood relase handle.

At worst, you may need to remove the 5 or 6 big screws in the front of the cluster and move the cluster towards the driver's seat a bit to get some working room
