So I'm setting up the bearing on my trailing arms today and keep coming up tight before I even add a shim, just have bearings and the spacer and from what I'm seeing I need to sand down the spacer to get .001-.005 free play.
When I took them apart one side had a shim and the other did not (which I found odd). I have checked both and with just the spacer both are too tight. I did check to ensure my races were seated and they are.
Has anyone setup their bearings and not used any shims? I'm using Timken bearings not that it should matter.
I worked out the complete brain fart. Both sides are shimed to .001 and ready for assy tomorrow. GM says .005 to .008 but a few on CF say to shim to .001, you guys agree with this?
