59 muncie trans swap
Hello all
I am putting a muncie M20 in a customers 59 that had an original T-10
the trany mount bolts on the muncie are in a different location that the T-10 .
Is there a different bracket available to bolt the muncie to the original crossmember trany mount
Thanks for your Help

This is literally a pure, 100% bolt-in swap.
Here is what you need:
1. Of course a shifter for the Muncie------------you can get a Hurst shifter for a Muncie (63-67 Vette version) and then buy an aftermarket, REPLICA 59 handle (or just use the Hurst handle) that is made to bolt to the Hurst shifter.
2. 62 Corvette tranny rear mounting plate which adapts the cross member mount to fit the Muncie (this was a FACTORY part on all 62 Vettes with 4sp). It is (as already mentioned) available at all of the Vette vendors.
Also, on 62 only Vettes, the factory installed spacers BETWEEN the frame X-member and the tranny cross member to LOWER the rear of the tranny. These factory spacers were about .120in thick. BUT, it is beneficial to lower the cross member even more than that. On my 56 with a Muncie, I have installed 1in spacers.
3. Last, you will need to swap a 27spline yoke on the drive shaft (63-later trannys went to 27 splines, they are common as dirt, such as used for turbo 350 trannys).
The 63-early 65 Muncies had the speedo fitting on the driver side. If that is what you have, then the speedo cable will reach. The 65-later Muncies had the speedo fitting pointing down at about a 45deg angle on the PASSENGER side. If that is the version you have, then you will either need to get (or have made) an extension for the existing speedo cable, OR, get a longer cable. This swap is tooooooooooooooooooo easy!
