I have been putting the doors together after a frame off with everything removed on my '66 convertible. I tried to install the windows today with the vent window assembly already in place. I could not seem to get the glass in place. Tried taking out the rear track, but that didn't help. I don't have a 66' Chassis Service Manual, which may outline the sequence.
Do I need to remove the vent assembly and slide the windows in first? I think you can get the vent assembly in after the glass is loosely in place.
Thanks for the helpful comments. Out comes the vent assembly and in goes the glass.
I had the power window assembly out today for the second time (first time I broke the brittle plastic electrical connector). Seems like a previous door accident bent the actuator arm that raises the window. I had to force it a little to get the tracks to line up. In comparing it to the other door, I could see it was bent. This is the door I had put a new door skin on and it also has an aftermarket window on that side. There must be a story there someplace.
Thanks again.
Ralph.
PS: Yes, I have the AIM. Will get the service manual.
