Default One more Drive Line Question.

Will These Mid-Years be able to take anything larger than the stock 2" diameter Drive line?

I think that the biggest problem that your is not the size of the driveshaft but the yokes at each end. Especially the tranny end, there is not that much space in the tunnel. I would think that you could go maybe 3" but that's not going to help much with the little u-joints you are forced to use... JMO.. Dave

The larger C-3 yoke at the differential fits (clears) on a C-2

If he is into a bit of engineering experimentation. In my job as a mechanical design engineer, I use these joints alot in machinery design.

They will take a huge amount of torque use a flex plate and are all metal.

If you try and use a larger diameter tube, these seat belt reinforcement studs can spoil your whole day.

But, what the heck, we never had seat belts when I was a kid.

Got my curiosity up... so I looked it up.

all C-3 turbo 400's and all 4 speeds after 1971, got the larger driveshaft (2.5" vs 2") and U-joints. From your other thread, you may already have the yoke for the larger shaft. If the shaft clears the tunnel, this should be a drop in for you, if you include the yokes at the trans and at the differential. Might be a good question to ask over on the C-3 forum.... I'd do an archive search in that forum too...
