The VIN is late enough that it COULD have been a 396 car. There are a bunch of things to look for that COULD help verify that it was a BB, but, people are getting good at faking them too. Which side is the battery located on, check the codes on the rear end, all 396s had TI ignition, and there are lots of little signs. But, these can only help tell if your car COULD have been a BB. Only documentation can verify what your car is/was.
I'm going to look at a 65 coupe that has a NOM 396-425 motor in it. Correct hood bulge, etc... I'm wondering about a good source or if someone has a list on what to look for in determining if the car has all the unique features the 396 car came with. I've been searching but don't feel I have a complete list yet... any help will be appreciated! Thanks again, fellow forum members!
