Default OK, While I have everybody here...

I have one little (more ) issue before I drop the body. When I took this all apart the steel "retainer" that goes around the hole in the floor that the shifter goes through, was under the fiberglass. Then the shift boot was on top of the fiber glass, then the console trim on top of that.

I looked in the AIM because I remembered that it seemed a little odd that the console trim held the boot down. Well, the AIM shows the "retainer" on top of the fiber glass holding the boot down. That makes sense...But, the AIM doesn't show how all of that screws into the fiber glass. Is therre supposed to be "U-clips" in the holes of the fiber glass opening?

There is a "retainer" riveted to the underside of the tunnel.
On the topside, you have the boot and then another "retainer". You screw through the top retainer, through the boot, through the fiberglass, and into the retainer underneath.
The top retainer also has tabs that the console trim plate assy screws to.

Thanks NASSAU, That was quick and easy. Appearently according to C.C. parts list the upper plate is missing. This won't keep me from the body drop then. I'll drop it and attach the lower plate then order the upper one.

Don't forget the tunnel insulation and if it's a BB be sure the accelerator lever is in place.

It'd be easier to rivet the lowqer plate on before dropping the body [if the tranny is in].
The trans tunnel insulator is way easier to install with the body off.
Also, the accelerator lever is better installed before the body drop [if the motor is in].
