61 engine blocks
Since no one has attempted to answer your question, I will give it a shot.
I believe that the 61 engine block is the same as any other running production change. The Corvette engine was to be a 327-870 block for the 62 model year and the 519 block casting was to end with 1961. Production volumes exceeded the 519 block inventory, so the 935 (I believe it was a small truck block) was substituted. The 61-62 NCRS JG states that the 519 and 935 block were used randomly after serial number 3789935 (June 23) until the end of production. Like any inventory, the new castings would arrive prior to inventory of the old castings running out, and you would have a mix of blocks being used. I am currently working on a 61 project and I believe it came with a service replacement block. It is the 935 block with a Oct 1 (61) casting date and no information on the pad.
