help. just bought my first c2, a '66 vert. to get it through my provincial inspection, i need to tighten the outside mirror, as it is very loose (from the body of the car). after doing a search on the subject, i see that i should remove the door panel. that brings up more problems, as i now find out that bubba has been at work here. he glued the vent window handle to the regulator, and it will not come off. now, is there any way to tighten the mirror without removing the door panel? I see there is a round hole in the mirror base, but i don't see any screw of any kind in there. How can i get this thing off or tightened?
Like Nowhere Man said, there should be a machine screw in that hole. I'm betting that Bubba glued the mirror on, same way he attached your vent window handle.
ok, thanks guys, i did get the mirror off, that allen screw is very stripped, but anyways, the mirror seems loose because the hole in the mounting bracket is too big, and the the screw just wobbles around in there. i'm going to see if i have another one of those mounting brackets kicking around and compare it with this one. any ideas how i'm going to get that vent crank handle off? maybe i'll have to hack saw it off.
