Okay guys the passenger side bucket has always taken around 5 seconds to raise while the drivers was more like 10 secs. Recently the drivers side has started sticking while opening a 1/4 of the way. If I get out and help it with my hand while someone holds the switch to open it will open.
This afternoon I pulled the motor and cleaned out the old grease (it did not look too bad or hard) and also moved the main drive gear 180 as a few teeth were knarled up. I did not bench test the motor since I couldn't find my alligator clip leads etc. and thought I would chance it and just go for it. I don't know how quick that motor it supposed to turn anyway and I do know it works because of it trying to open the bucket.
The bucket opens pretty good without the motor in place but there is a very slight bind but after I move past that, and then it contines easily. I did not pull the other passenger side motor see how the bucket moves on that side or if their a slight bind to get a feel for how a correctly operating bucket should feel since I don't know.
Anyway I was wondering if anyboy has any idea, and what they would do next? I don't fee like pulling that whole bucket as it seems like that is a PIA and am wondering should I spring for a rebuild on the engine even thought it seems to work. But possibly could be a little weak and has finally just lost that extra power to get it open.
If the buckets do not flop back and forth when you have the motor out then you have to much friction in the pivot shafts. It seems that more problems are from the pivot ***** seizing to the shaft verses a motor failure or degredation. If I were a betting man I would put my money on the pivot shaft *****. Sorry but it may be time to remove the buckets and put the nylon pivot ***** in the place of the originals. JMO.. Dave
You can squirt the he!! out of them with WD-40 or whatever lubricant but getting to the outboard side is a real problem and a short term solution at best.
Bite the bullet and disassemble and lubricate your *****.
The headlite motor/reducers are greatly improved with a new output gear and a 5 minute bench run in each direction. It polishes the commutator and seats the motor brushs. (180 deg gear flops are a waste in my estimation)

I about spit out my beer..
Lubricate your ***** eh?
I have to agree that rotating the gear 180 degrees is definately about worthless..
I had a feeling you guys were going say time for new *****! I just don't feel like busting my ***** to put them in. I will try to get in there and squirt the hell out of the shafts/pivot ***** with some WD 40 to see if that helps. I have a feeling this overhaul may be my Fall winter project. I don't drive that much at night and can use the arm assist technique for awhile as a long as I got a copilot. Or I can always resort to the dreaded star **** if all else fails.
Any good article other than shop manual and assmbly manuals to go by for this ball buster. I think there was an old Corvette Fever issue but I don't remember when and probably don't have it anyway.
