Headlight Motor Works in Florida has been rebuilding Vette headlight motors for over 30 years. You might want to call for a quote. 904-724-0290

Be aware!!!!

There is switch located on the headlight rotating shaft that stops the motor dirve when the light is fully rotated. I am not sure how this might cause the motor not to drive, but it is something that you might want to check.

The only other suggestion I might have is to insure you are connecting power to the right connection when you hot wire it. Remember that motor dirves both ways and if you connect to the wrong pin then you will be trying to drive it down and this switch would prevent the motor from turning in that direction.

That switch turns on the headlight warning light on the dash indicating the buckets are not open, or fully opened, when the headlights are turned on and has nothing to do with the operation of the headlight motors.

If they are:

Check for voltage on the red wire of the headlight motor switch.

If there is no power check for power on both sides of the circuit breaker. If there is only power on one side, the circuit breaker is faulty.

If there is power at the red wire of the headlight motor switch, operate the switch "up" and check for power on the blk/yellow wire, then operate switch "down" and check for power on the green wire. If there is no power at the blk/yellow wire and the green wire the switch is faulty.

If there is power at the blk/yellow wire and the green wire,
remove one of headlight motor connectors and check the voltage at the connector while operating the headlight switch up and down.

If there is no voltage at the headlight motor connector, disconnect the outboard bulkhead connector, check and clean the contacts of the blk/yellow wire and the green wire. Reconnect the bulkhead connector.
and check for power at the headlight motor connector. If you have power, reconnect the headlight motor connector.

Operate the headlight motor switch up and down. If headlight motors don't work, check ground on headlight motors.

My money is on corroded contacts in the bulkhead connector, or a faulty circuit breaker.

I would like to thank Dave (stingrayl76). Using his procedure I discovered that the problem was in the connector to the switch. When I measured the volatge on the red wire I had 12v plus but 0.5 volts coming out on the blk/yellow. I carfully took the switch apart and found it to be OK. Using a jumper between the red and blk/yel (with the switch out) the lights would close. I played around with the connector inside the plug and the problem was solved.

Dave,Thanks again
