Default door/vent window assembly question....

This is relating to a 65 Convertible....

I am reassembling the door. I have the anatomy of a mid-year door write up but I can't make out a few details.....

The channel that holds the main window and runs vertically up the leading edge of the window....there is a curved felted piece that rivets into the channel. I have this felt part it has holes on the bottom that align with rivets on the channel, however at the top I am mystified. I can see there is a screw hole that holds that little rubber part and the tip of the channel to the main part of the frame. However there are also to other holes down from the top....they are maybe 2 inches down and 2 inches apart. they correspond to small square holes in the channel. The don't seem to be rivet holes like the lower ones but clearly something is meant to go here to attach the felt to the channel....is there some sort of clip or something? It also seems like there should be some other part behind the channel where it attaches to the frame...or maybe it is just the rubber for the vent and some how those upper holes retain both the felt and the rubber?

I could use a good exploded diagram of some pictures of the area in some state of disassembly...or just a good description of how this all goes together.....I am starting to think I might be missing a part or something.

Thanks
Darren

Thanks, that is basically the same article I referred to in my original post....maybe since it is for a coupe there seems to be little covered about the part I have questions on....I am thinking however maybe those 'bubble' clips are used in the convertible vertical channel just I don't see how since they would seem to have to go in before the felt which would make me expect they would be in the replacement felt channel already. I see if I can figure out the rest of it and decide if maybe I can just rivet at the top like at the bottom....it needs something up there or the felt channel liner just wants to pop out.

TIA
Darren

The front glass channel is attached to the vent window frame assembly by the two rivets you've already found and by the three or four tabs ( I forget the exact number) from the rear vent window weatherstripping. These tabs go through the vent window frame and then through the front channel and bend down. You should have seen the holes for these tabs and the tabs themselves. Finally, additional holding is done through the hole in the upper end of the channel by the screw that holds on the external upper window stop.

The WS tabs are part of the steel stiffener in the WS and are made of dead soft material on the re-pop that I had. If they don't hold the channel in place, then get out your JB Weld and mix up a batch and apply to the bottom of the channel and set in place. Don't go overboard with the JB, since you may want to take it apart someday.

Good luck

Those square 'holes' accept the tabs that should be on the stainless u channel. The clips face down and you slide the chanel down, allowing the clips into the square 'holes'. Back in the day, replacement channels were not pre-arched nor did they have the clips. Double check yours.
Hopefully another member can steer us to a good supplier of these channels.

Thanks, the tabs thing makes perfect sense...however looking at my repro stainless part while arched has no tabs on it....grrrrr....instead it has square hole that match the ones in the channel....not sure I can return them at this point but will look around for replacements, or maybe just try an extra rivet or two and see how that goes.

Thanks for the info.
