Default trans mount

is it possible to buy the rubber only for the trans mount and bond into place. glue type? I bought the import assembly but.....

also, the later years had a different shifter mount to reduce vibration I believe. Can the earlier trans. use that set up and is there a benefit?

1965 4 sp.

thanks

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish but I will give you a bump. Someone else may be able to help.

Don't think so. As I recall the rubber is molded around holes in the two metal parts of the bracket. You might look to the corvette performance suppliers for a PU polymer version.

To use the 66 and later bracket, you'll need some threaded holes in the cross member, where it mounts. I don't think 65 and earlier had the holes. You could probably install some riv-nuts (sp?), if you can get a drill in there to make the holes. I'm not sure its worth the effort though. Maybe a little less vibration in the shifter.

Nope, the trans mount is one bonded/vulcanized assembly with the internal anchor plate for the bolts so it doesn't come apart.

The shifter was moved off the tailhousing to a separate crossmember-mounted bracket as a running change in '66. There was a TSB issued for the dealers to install the bracket on customer buzz/rattle complaint units (at their expense). The bolts for the bracket are self-tapping (no weld nuts inside the crossmember); to add it you only have to drill two holes.

Thanks guys...

JohnZ- Harry believes there will be a little less vibration what is your opinion on the effectiveness of the EC to the shifter.
