Default Help Clutch problems, need insight

Car has sat for a few weeks, and I think I have an problem with the clutch frozen to the fly wheel. Has this happened to anyone and if so is there a light fix without totally totally disassembly. Car in question is a 64 convertible, 350/300 crate motor with a tremec 5sp converison installed last year. No problems to date with the tranny or install

Again symptoms include, car off, Trans operated smoothly, into all gears including neutral.

car running: neutral fine, but clutch is useless which leads me to believe it is fully engaged and stuck, which mean I'm stuck

I just went through this on my 69. I jacked the rear wheels off the ground as low as possible to keep the halfshaft angle not to bad. Put it in 2nd gear and started it and revved it up real good and then jammed on the brakes. Broke loose the first time.

Bill, thanks, I'll give that a try, I like you idea, it had me worried to do this from a standing start as I'm not looking on stressing the tremec. Thanks again

A simple way to unstick a frozen clutch:

1. Parking brake ON or press hard on brake pedal
2. Transmission in highest possible gear
3. Push clutch pedal down
4. Start engine

The car will initially jolt when the starter engages, but the clutch will break free quickly and all will be well.

Good luck,

Jim

Push it out on the street. Put it in gear. Put foot on clutch. Start the engine by canking starter. When it catches, nail it while still having your foot on the clutch and it will break loose from the flywheel

This is the way I do it when I have to. If it doesn't break loose, go up a gear or two and try it again. Best to have the engine warmed up before you do this.

If you can find a drier place to park your car, either from humidity or moisture coming up from the ground, your chance of having this problem will be lessened. This is another good reason not to set the parking brake during storage because it'll do the same thing. It doesn't take long sometimes.
