You can put black shrink wrap on the two Petronix wires and its nearly invisible and hard to tell its not a single wire.

My original Pertronix II lasted only 3 weeks so they replaced it. I put in the new one and have had zero problems with it for almost a year. I also have the matching coil. Very easy install to boot.

If you haven't noticed I'm electrically challenged!!!!!
Ha Ha

Me too

Back to the topic: I ran a Unilite distributor with a MSD box and a Mallory coil for many years and the performance was great. However there was a however Whenever someone would try to put a boost charge on my battery like they always do when some shop has had your car for a period of time, they would blow the photo cell out. Warning them of it ahead of time did not deter them from doing nor from denying responsibility for doing it.

The Unilite was great unit and worked fine but on my new motor I went with all MSD just because of the perishable photo cell problem.

I run a MSD 8572 Vacuum Advance Mag Distributor w/tach drive connected to a MSD 6A Box and it's operation is flawless.

My 67 is an original Transistor Ignition and 40 years ago it kept blowing out the GM amplifiers, dealer couldnt figure it out so I replaced it early on and never looked back. Had Mallory, Accel and others until MSD around 10 years ago....Faster cold starts also, timing curve is perfect!....

Default Timing with a Petronix replacement

Am I correct in assuming with a Petronix replacement you 'time' the engine in the same manner - distributor rotation?
What about setting dwell?

tks.

Timing is set exactly the same way as if you had points - no difference. No dwell to set - that's handled electronically in the module.

Default I'm trying this-

Tach drive, Hei distributor from Speed City - Made for Corvettes. Sparkplug wires included for under $200. Haven't received it yet but others have said it was fine.

Default Pretronix only way to go

Hi

I bought the original Pretronix conversion and a flamethrower coil with encouragement from other forum menbers and a "kick a$$" diagram from I think John Z or Jeff62 it just seemed to be a good move...I love it..I get better start up time (less cranking)..better fuel mileage..

I had bought a "expensive" AC Delco number correct coil that leaked oil out of it in less than a year of ownership..

I never looked back and happy with conversion
