Default 64 Door Panel Question...

All you interior experts out there...

I've been looking at 64 interiors. I'm noticing two things...

The door panels have about 4 or 5 inches of carpet at the bottom. Some of them have four screws attaching the carpe to the door and some have no screw visible. What's the difference? Different replacement part manufacturers? Is one original and the other not?
Thanks for your continued expertise.

Originals have 4 screws in the carpeted area.

Default Door Panels

I thought it might be the other way around. The cars I'm seeing that indicate the interior is new have the screws. The ones that say the interior is original don't. Interesting.

How do the attach the new door panels? And why didn't they make them with 4 screw holes so they would look like the originals I wonder.

Thanks.

Default Door Panels... again...

I just checked Corvette America and Al Knock. Both of their door panels have the four screw holes in them. I'm thinking the ones without screw holes are the original version.

Any other takers?

I have a 63 roadster and door panels should be the same as 64, at least according to Al Knoch parts #'s. My door panels are original and DO have the four screw holes in the bottom of the panel.
Hope this helps.....

All '63-'64 door trim panels are attached along the bottom edge with four screws through the panel into the door; the carpet was glued to the trim panel by the supplier, and was already on the trim panel when it was received at St. Louis.

My '64's original door panels are still intact after 300,000 miles and they do have screws.

Maybe you were fooled by some "kustom" **** carpet that hid the heads?
