Default 63 power window question

On a 63 should the power windows work with out the ignition on or in acc position?

My understanding is that the power to the switch is always hot so the windows will work at all times.

Someone else with more knowledge will probably jump in.

There is no mention in any of the '63-'66 owner's manuals on this issue, and those four A.I.M.'s just show the power lead on the harness connected "to fuse block", without identifying which cavity.

The '67 owner's manual says the windows will only operate with the ignition in the "accessory" or "on" position, and the '67 A.I.M. shows the power lead plugged into the "acc fused" cavity, which is ignition-switched power.

The NCRS P.V. Test Manual says '63-'66 power windows should work with the ignition switch in any position (battery power), but '67 power windows should only work with the ignition switch in "accessory" or "on" (switched ignition power).

'63 power windows work in any position of the ignition switch. Well, mine do anyway.

Default 63 power

My 63 power windows work with the key off.

Recall reading a thread some time ago about this and someone mentioned changing where the power window wire attaches to the fuse block will allow the windows to work only with the key on. Haven't tried it yet.

Thanks. I was thinking about that also.
There are multiple spots where the wire can go, so I am hoping some are switched and some are not.
I will check that out.
