DOes anyone know if it is possible to replace the 3 shifter seals on the side of a four speed muncie in a 66 vette without taking the transmission out of the car?
I suppose you MIGHT be able to pull the reverse seal out with a hooked scribe or small wood screw if you were to drill a hole in the metal part of the seal.
Me, I had it out of the car and disassembled it like the manual says to. But then again, I already had the tranny apart to replace ALL the seals & gaskets anyway.
Good luck

....actually, after thinking about it and looking at the manual, it looks like you might be able to remove the rear case extension from the trans case with it still in the car. Only thing I can't be sure enough is if there's enough room in the trans tunnel to move the extension clear of the trans shaft. Something else to consider is how you'll support the trans & engine at the rear as the trans mount is on the rear case extension.
If it was me I'd give the hole/scribe/screw thing a shot.
