Default SB code V1129F

What is/was it? 327, 307 or 350? '69(?) or later block as there is no vent boss at the rear. Square head 1/8" pipe plug in the oil gallery above the timing chain cover.

The short block that was in 'Old Blue' when I got him has this engine code. It now resides in my '40 Ford.

Also attached to the outside front of the valley just above the timing chain cover is a rebuilder's tag.
Product of 4 State Motor Parts, Tulsa Ok.
cyl......C
rod......A
main....A
If A = .010" then C = .030"............. I suppose.

What is the date code on the block? Also get the casting number.

I have a 55 or a 57; both are two barrel motors.

Default Casting # 3932386

L I B. Mortec shows the block as a '69 350, but it could have a late model cast 327 crank in it. Answered my own question I think.

Can't get my eyes to focus on the date code, battery box is in the way.

This short block had a pair of 225 hp 265" heads on it when I bought 'Old Blue'. With flat top pistons the C. R. was way up there. Wouldn't run on regular so I changed them to some early '70's smoggers. Sold the 225 hp heads to a shoe box owner in my neighborhood.

V is actually for flint. I am not sure when they switched from F to V. Mid 60s IIRC.

None. The single-character "F" prefix was last used in 1961, on passenger car 283's. All 69's used a two-character suffix.

John:
How about an FB suffix?

The B is stamped separate and I disregarded it thinking it was from the rebuilder.

"FB" in '69 was a 327/235hp 2-barrel Powerglide Impala/Caprice.
