Hi Guys,

I have just got the car and im curious if it has the original engine, i had a quick look and these are the numbers i found

Lhr of engine block 3756519

Per NCRS specification guide, your casting numbers are correct for '59 model year.

Block casting number 3756519 common mid-to-late '58 through late '61.
Intake manifold (cast iron) 3746829 common '58 through '61.

Regarding the stamped numbers you posted ... you did not list an engine source designator (F = Flint, T = Tonawanda) or a date sequence or an engine code. For example, F602CQ could be Flint/June 2/base engine. The "611610" you mention could be some VIN derivative, I suppose. However, the NCRS reference book indicates that VIN was added "...sometime during 1960..." to the engine seriel pad.

Perhaps you have the correct castings numbers for your model year, but but from later vehicle. Suggest you look for the block's alpha numeric casting date aft near the bell housing. It is cast, not stamped. "E119", for example, would mean May 11, 1959 casting date.

Thats some traveling for a car. Did the owner from Japan have any history on the car. How did he get it. How long did he own it. You need to pickup the assembly manual and some restoration guides to help you. There definately worth while and a great help. Good Luck Greg

hi greg,
the car was imported in to japan in 1963 by a japanese doctor with 5000miles .
it has since done another 28000 miles.
it been in storage since 1985 and was started and driven around the block every year until 2002.
i got it filled it up with fuel , changed the oil and she fired right up, everything still works and drives great.
