59 Engine Purchase
I have a chance to purchase a 59 Vette engine, complete. From oil pan to carburetor. It is 230 horse engine, CQ code, needs to be rebuilt.
Any idea as to its value, or what you would pay for it?

I wouldn't pay much, because I don't need it... which is the problem the seller will have; it's very valuable to the guy who needs that particular casting number and casting date, and only 1 guy would need the stamped numbers (assuming the car is still around). Those 3 castings, and the low horsepower heads, were quite common and used across the car and truck lines. Hot rodders want a 350ci, so only restorers are interested. My guess is less than $500, if the exhaust manifold, intake, and carb are in reasonable condition. But, that's an opinion.
