The GM foundry and engine plant in Toluca, Mexico has been the ONLY source of Gen-1 engines for about ten years.

Not true. About half of GM block and head castings come from Mexican foundries, the rest are in the U.S.

Since this is the 1953 - 1967 site, why do I care about 4 cylinders?

Are all the V8 castings G-1?
Does that include the ZL1 blocks or bowtie blocks?

The ZL maybe different but the cast iron big block bowties are made in Mexico.
The quality is not as good as it was in the past.

Their current production engine castings (they have about 32 different engines these days) come from both Mexican and U.S. foundries.
