"AL" isn't a '57 LOF date code - for an original '57 windshield, the second digit would be a "T". "Safety Plate" is an OEM production windshield, "Safety Float" is the LOF replacement line.

I have a line on a NOS '57 WS , they want 250.00 . Is this a good price / and how do I tell if it's what they say it is ? Thanks , Geo

If it's clear (no tint or sunshade band), it says "Safety Plate" (not "Safety Float"), the L-O-F logo and letters are nice and crisp, and the 2-digit date code ends in a "T", it could be a good buy. The repro date-coded windshields (at least the ones I've seen) have a fuzzy-looking logo and are pretty obvious compared to real L-O-F logos. Also watch out for high crating and shipping costs. BTW, the judging standard deduction for a correct brand (L-O-F) but replacement windshield is only six points (out of 4500).
