I have just recieved my complete Ignition Shielding from C.C. for my 65, 327, 350HP. There are so many parts and pieces and no diagram to follow. I am just going crazy trying to figure out how and where to attach the brackets. Pictures? Diagrams? Anyone?
Thanx
Please help

Howdy,
1) Go to www.corvettecentral.com
2) Type 472048 in the Part Number Search field and press Search
3) Click on the diagram that appears, it should get you close.
The unchromed shields bolt to the block and are heat shields to protect the plug wires
The funky chromed short U-shaped ones go over 2 spark plugs each, covering the unchromed shields.
The odd J shaped units cover the front 2 plug wires on each side of the block. These are the plug wires that normally run between the block and the motor mount.
The 2 long straight-ish pieces go vertically behind the engine running up to the very big piece that covers the distributor.
Your kit may have also come with plain metal brackets to hold these pieces in place, and guide plug wires.
How is the quality on the repro shielding? I just pulled all of my original shielding off and the one that covers plugs 6 and 8 is really in bad shape.
The quality and fit is very good. I got mine at LICS about 7 yrs ago and it still looks good.
Believe originals were a combination of chrome and polished stainless (maybe with flash chrome but not sure) and the repros all appear to be chromed only.
One thing when putitng them in is to leave everthing a bit loose then tighten up when all the pieces are together.
As already noted I'll second the repro ignition shielding on quality, as well. Chrome is pretty nice. I ordered mine from LICS. The contents box it arrived in had a strip of paper tape covering the C.C. logo. ..
