Got a new dash pad for the '62 and plan to install tomorrow. Can someone direct me to a "How To"? Old one was removed and was tossed some time back. All surfaces are clean and ready for glue. Did a search and came up dry. Its a Corvette America unit. Thanks in advance.
Removing foam around speedo and dash insert facilitates reinstalling of these.
Careful when pushing on speedo as can break housing.
You only need to glue edge of pad that tucks under windshield.
Careful on your cutouts around grabbar as very easy to extend cut while installing.
A heatgun comes in handy.

Earl you know that uh the Senior Hitchens is going to be off all of the second week of December you might want to call him up if you need a second set of hands. Sorry I missed you while in the Burg, I heard you made a visit to the Ponderosa. I got side tracked at the inlaws... Topping 50 ft Bradford Pear trees...
Anyway back on topic give the old man a call I'm sure he can help if you need it. Dave

.
yup....take ALL the foam off in these areas....make sure that the dash pad where the windshield contacts it is also free of foam....when I did mine I didn't take enough foam off for several test fittings....and if I was to do it again, I would not hesitate to really remove foam from anywhere something else comes in contact with the dash pad. I didn't take enough off from the dash insert andhad a heck of a time getting the insert installed. Got aggressive with removing the foam and all of a sudden.....no problem getting the insert to go!
Also had a problem around the instrument cluster area. Don't know if it was because I didnt remove enough of the foam (what I suspect in hindsight). I had to have Sharon come sit on the gas tank area and push with both feet on the cluster for me to get underneath the dash and get the fasteners in place. Not a task for one person from what I can tell.
Also for putting down and gluing my dash pad I was going to use the 3M spray adhesive but I was directed by another forum member to consider using the adhesive that is used to glue down counter laminates.
I only needed to glue at the edges and it bonds like gang busters....got it at ACE Hardware.
